Power adapter causing accessory problem

I had been using it to charge an mp3 player when suddenly my cruise control, which was on at the time, shut off. It would not re-engage and at the same time my left turn signal and hazzards would not work - the signal would just stay on (on the dash) and not blink. I shut down and unplugged the power adapter and stopped for an hour, with the engine off, but even after that the signals or cruise would not work. I stopped for the night, near a Ford dealer and went in the next morning. Naturally, when I got up that morning it was working fine. The dealer said that if it wasn't not working at the time there would be no error codes or anything else they could check to see what the problem was. It did this same thing to me one more time that day, but it came back after I stopped for lunch, and it's not done it since. I have been using it more sparringly, but I still used it to charge the mp3 player, phone, etc.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
G
