When I bought my truck it had an aftermarket shift **** on it. I didn't really like it but tolerated it at the time. No it rattles a lot and is extremely annoying. Does anyone know where to get a factory shift **** for the 6-speed? I would also accept an aftermarket one if I could find one I like.
I figure I will have to go to the dealer for this but I want to see if I can find it cheaper.
OH YEAH: while were talking about replacement parts does anyone know where to get a raplacement jack. The jack wasn't there either. The handles and stuff are under the hood but the jack isn't there.
If you have a supercab the jack is under the rear seat, passenger side. The reason I say that a buddy of mine got a flat near my house, made it in my driveway and asked if he could let it there till after work. Around 11:00 PM he knocked on my door and asked to use my floor jack, he said the guy he bought the truck must have taken the jack out, he said all the jack tools are under the hood but no jack! He looked embarrass when I told him were to look! By the way I went to change the tire for him earlier, he had some kind of lock on the spare! no key!!!!
There's always a wrecking yard, but the factory shift **** from Ford isn't that expensive. You just need to install it with a rubber mallet or it will start spinning after a few months.

I have the key to the spare tire in the glove box. I figured out where the jack pretty quick. I've had the truck two years and just haven't gotten around to getting one. The dealer wanted $160 for the jack. I wasn't and still am not willing to pay that for it. I have been carrying a small floor jack in the backseat for a while. Getting tired of it being there so I think I'm going to try to find a factory one.
I bought a screw type jack from tractorsupply for my other truck, worked great. I think it was under 50.00 $$ about the same size as the one the truck came with!!!
Big suprise that the dealer quoted the wrong price on the phone but the good news is that he quoted high. It was only $16 including tax for the new know. Now all I need to find is a good deal on the stock jack
Sorry I'm so slow, but yes that was from the dealer, but I see that's been figured out already.
Don't forget a couple of good taps with a rubber mallet or it will start spinning on you in a few weeks.
Yeah. I put it on today and didn't feel very comfortable hitting it very hard so I ended up taking the lever off so i could get it seated all the way down without pounding on the tranny. This was probable unnecessary but didn't take that long and made me feel better. I also found out that the plastic ring that holds the shift boot to the floor was broke. I am going to call the dealer and find out what they want for the shift boot and the ring. I figure that it will be more expensive than I want to pay and when I screwed the broke one back down it looked like that is why it broke. It appeared that it was bending so I will have to figure out what is causing that.
