Door hinge

I have read some post on this, but pardon me for a newb type question.

Today, (still raining no pics) on my new to me 94 f150 the door sags, (typical ford hinges). This is problem because the door latches, but takes more effort to do so, also when you pull the open door handle from the inside, it has pulled on the sheet metal and ripped four tears in it, this stopped the door from opening due to the free play the handle wouldn't go all the way up.

Well, two mending plates, some JB weld, and some good ole fashined ingenuity later I got the tear in the sheet metal fixed, and my problem of the door not opening is fixed. JB weld style!!!!

Anyways, I would like the door to sit level like the passenger door and close nicely so this problem can be avoided in the future, (I don't want to push my luck with only one bolt and the JB weld, The JB didn't have a good surface contact either).

At the online advance auto etc. stores I just see the bushing kit. How do I know if I have to replace both hinges or just the bottom, or do just the bushings work? I heard the bushings might work, but others say just get two new hinges.

Thanks for any help you guys can give, and sorry for bringing this probably common topic up. I will get you some pics if you need it in diagnosing.

by the time most people get around to putting bushings in them, they're worn into the hinge body

Everything I see says the bushing kit should do it. I spose it depends on how bad the door sags. Mine isn't too bad and I'm thinking putting the kit in the top hinge will do it, which is what I'm going to do......then see how it is. I'd think it would really have to be bad to need new hinges.
But.....now this post will back up top and we can see what others think.

Good Luck
Bob

I'm also going to order the kit from LMC or NPD.......those I see at Advance and others are called universal. I'm hoping the ordered ones will be Ford specific.

If you door sagged enough to hang up enough to cause crack. Yours may be to far gone.
But for the price try swapping the bushings in. Will work for while any way .

Keep eye out for other set . I get them off passengers side and rebush before install hey you know they have half the use and the rebush is cheap Good luck .
