Flickering Battery Light - Found Problem
My battery light has been flickering lately with no real pattern.. but sometimes worse at higher rpm's..My voltages were staying nomal. Well, I noticed the two small wires that go into the connector on top of the alternator were laying tightly over the top edge of the alternator housing. Disconnected the connector and bent back the wires and with a magnifying glass inspected the insulation. Sure enough, one wire had a small rub mark with copper wire showing thru. These two wires really could have been abit longer. Repositioned the wires and added more insulation and problem solved.. (i came close to ordering a new allternator since my batteries are new)

Thanks for letting us know. Funny thing is, just today I took my truck to the shop to figure out why batts were going dead and alternator was not charging. I thought the alt was bad and found that one of the wires that goes from ignition switch to plug on alt to give it "key on" power had worn through above the drivers valve cover so the alt never thought the truck was running to charge. Simple wire repair and all is well.
Little tips like these really help others who may have similar problems, as electrical issues can be a nightmare to find...

good tip..i was under the hood of mine the other day and noticed them wires were kind of tight in there..i moved them the best i could..but after reading this i think i will do some thing a little differnt with it..thanks....
