was looking at buying this new 2005 sport package truck with leather seats...they do not have the seat heater controls on the dashboard, so i was wondering if the seats actually would have the heater built in? or would they have to be added into the seat. If they are already in there, where can i get the modules from and where would they be installed as the factory location doesnt look possible? Thanks in advance.
On my 2005 F250 the seat heater controls were on the side of the seat next to the power seat controls. Wasn't too practical as the little light on the button couldn't be seen without opening door and many times I leaned across the seat from the outside to get something from the center console and inadvertantly pressed the button only to realize I had done so a few miles down the road on a 100 degree day.
The 2007s and below had the switch on the side of the seat (right in front of the power seat buttons). They started putting the heated seat switch on the dash in 2008.

I leave mine on all the time...mostly because when I auto start the truck, my seat will be nice and warm when I get in. Of course...nights are getting into the teens up here already. I wouldn't have bought the truck having leather seats if there weren't heaters in them. We had an Expedition with leather and no heaters...TOO COLD!!!!
I'll second that..... Can't tell you how many times I've turned them on accidentally just getting in and out of the truck....
Yah, but with the switch on the side your mother in law(or wife or kid or passenger) can't turn yours on for you while you're not looking !! They think they're sooooooo funny .
Great idea! BeerStalker. The kid is allways leavin that on upon getting out. I would suppose pulling that fuse will help the appolstery last a bit longer as well. My side has some scuff and a small crack in the side vynle and its over 250.00 to get out of the dealer (bottom cover only). Yikes.
