Looks like my radiator has multiple leaks. One is a crack along the top several inches long. Anyone know of a good place to look for a used replacement. I'm not ready to spend $300 on a new one right now. Engine is a 56 272 y-block. Thanks for any help.
The prices I got for repair or replacement of the core were about the same as buying a new one. The old radiators also have a much lower pressure rating. I opened some leaks in one of my radiators by putting on a higher psi cap.
You may just have a bad solder joint along the tank. I'd take it to a shop and have it looked at...sounds like you're on the right track seeking out a local shop.
Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll pull it and get an estimate. I'd rather try to get it fixed with the cost of these new radiators being so high.

A possible repair is always a good place to start as used radiators are hardly ever a good investment. You already have a used radiator, so why own two. Some shops charge more due to warranties or expectations of owner. Tell the shop keeper that you need only a leak fix and not a recore, maybe that no paper is needed and you will pay cash. These tips work at a lot of shops.
Are you still looking for a replacement radiator? I have one off of my '54 that i'm not using. The guy that owned it before me said it had just been rebuilt. Let me know.

Let me pull my radiator and get some quotes around town. If the repairs are too costly I will get back to you if you still have it then. Thanks for the offer,
Mike
