2005 Engine Trouble

I purchased an 05 f-350 new in Otober of 2005. Haven't had any trouble until two weeks ago. Traveling has been this trucks life. It has 97k in two years. It has been on the road. Two weeks ago on the way home from Memphis I got a check engine temp warning and the truck was hot. Before I could get pulled over the engine cooled back down on its own. 5-6 miles down the road it did the same thing again. The reamaing 50 miles of the trip were fine. I did pull over checked the coolant level and oil. Everything was good. Took to the shop first thing the next morning and both heads are cracked. Has anybody else had this type of trouble? Fortunately it is still under warranty. I am a life long Ford man
this 350 is the 8th Ford I have owned. I have had several unrelyable sources tell me that this is very common in the 6.0.

Absolutely common for head issues with the 6.0L PSD. Might want to check out this forum here at FTE for tons of info.

Good luck...

First, welcome to the site, and I am sorry to hear of your troubles.

Warped heads and bad headgaskets are somewhat common, but I haven't heard of many cracked heads.

What gauges are you using to say that the engine got too hot and cooled off? Were you towing somethign when this happened?

You really need to post this problem down in the 6.0L forum, or maybe a moderator would be kind enough to move it for you.
