i have a 4180 on a rebuilt 351w in my 74 bronco. the other day, I was driving and I mashed on the petal and made it kick down. when I let off, it was like I still had my foot on the petal. I had to turn it off. I pop the hood and made sure nothing was touching the accel. linkage. it wasnt so I adjusted the idle on the driverside down. does anyone have a clue what caused this????
It scared the heck out of me!
are we talking about the same spring? the one im talking about connects to the carb linkage and should have a mount or something on the intake or whatever or some custom mount made for the spring to hook to
i dunno where ever it mounts too or you can put it. as long as the carb linkage has a spring on it so even if you dont have the throttle hooked up it will make the carb linkage spring back to closed.
Could it have been the linkage hitting the bottom of the air filter housing. Maybe you took the filter off to check. How about the floor mat? Both of these items have caused my throttle to stick.
Neither of those. I was told it could be something on the Choke side. Would it be worth buying a Truck Avenger or rebuilding my 4180. I am on a tight budget so give me ideas. Is there another carb you recommend???
hell id just get a regular old 4150 or whatever 650cfm vacume secondary carb and it should be alright they are only like 250-300 bucks if u can get ahold of a used one or something on ebay im sure you could get it for cheaper
