Ignition switch troubles

This morning I inserted the ignition key to my 92 F-250 into the ignition switch of my 2001 F-350 diesel. The key went in fine and and even the chime to remind you that the keys are still in the switch sounded off but the key did not turn. Realizing that I had the wrong keys I went in and got the right ones but now my ignition switch is froze. Is there any sort of theft system that disables the switch if the wrong key is tried? Any recomendations? I have tried a little wd-40 and wiggling and jiggling the steering wheel, tilting, brake pedal ect.

I never forced anything nor at anytime did either key bind.

Thanks for the help.

WHen you insetrted the wrong key you may jambed a tumbler. About the only thing I can think of is to shock the column with the key removed. Maybe the tumbler will drop back into place. There is a liquid graphite that might work better than WD40. IIRC it's called Key-Ease.

Thanks to Cuda_Jim my misseries have been resolved. I took a heavy paperclip and straightened it out then bent a 45 on one end which allowed me to run it several times up and down the tumblers and whola it is working fine again. I am now headed to get some of that key-ease.

Thanks
