I have always been fascinated by the big Dakar trucks, I had a video tape when I was little that I wore out of some races. I would love to get a Unimog some day
Get a old concrete truck!! take the mixer off. All wheel drive, you can air down the tires from the cab, power divider lock, auto lock differentials, 1200ftlbs of torque, 500:1 low ratio, jake brake!! Double or triple frame All stock and ready for anything!! Don't forget a big hydraulic pump for a big hydraulic winch not that you will need it.
Run super singles all the way around for a more regular truck look and more float ability that duals. You could graft two long beds together and make it the biggest pick up on the road. Bigger and badder than that International puny truck.
You will need a class B liscense, a 8" thick driveway and cash for probably 10mpg without all the weight if you are lucky most likely get 8-9 mpg. Find a mack cv cab with the ami 370 motor and 310 tranny. It will rev up to 2100 rpm and get up to 85mph quick loaded or empty, it makes 400hp at 1800rpm!! The transmission has 10 forward gears, low low and low and 6 reverse gears have you ever done 40 mph in reverse? Well you could if you wanted too!! The Mack rear ends have great clearance.
They actually have a comfortable cab and the ac works real good too!
Bob the frame make it as short as you want. Truckgasm!! i'll have to steal that.
I want to make one if I ever have the money and find one that isn't too beat
I would love to have a AWD Mack pick up truck!! Wouldn't be able to stop it
you could go through just about anything!!
