tranny problem

tranny problem
i have a 1990 f150 with a 302 2wd it has the electronic overdrive transmission with the overdrive shutoff switch on the dash. i bought the truck a few months ago and i wana put it on the road. when i shift it into reverse ordrive when its cold it kind of pauses for a second then goes in gear and once the tranny is hot when i put it in gear it kida jolts or goes in gear really hard. and the darn thing dosesnt want to down shift when im going about 80 and try to accelerate unless i really get my foot into it. do u guys think the tranny is shot or is there anything that would cause this??? i have no clue thanxs for any help.

the Trans Fluid should be a red color. I would change the fluid and filter if it's pink. Check your seals and pan gasket for leaks. If you drop the pan make sure there isn't a lot of metal in the pan. if the Transmission still acts up after a fuild change, it might be time to look into a new Trany

depends on how much pink but it sounds like you've had that truck sitting a little while and the pink could be water condensation in the tranny....go ahead and do what Tom said.....might want to also check your electronic connections and clean them if need be.
