That is a bolt that mounts it to the rear end..

Disconnect both lines on the left and right then unbolt it from the rear end..

There are washer/orings that make the seal. so be sure to replace them..

donjamer said it! Just to clarify further, the brass part that the right and left steel lines attach to is integral with the rubber line.

That should be a bolt/vent pipe into the housing and it looks like someone might of capped it off somehow. And if there is some kind of epoxy to hold the cap on it might be in the threads. But yes you have to pull the two metal lines off first. Once the bolt comes out of the axle tube the rubber hose will have to be disconnected at the frame mount up top. Then just bolt the new one on but I would get a new vent pipe and run a piece of hose up to the frame somewhere like it should be.

What you are looking at is the rear brake hose from the axle tube to the brake line.

Ford part number: D8TZ-2282-B (2WD ONLY). The fitting where the two lines attach and neoprene hose are one piece.

Where that cap is (which doesn't belong there) is supposed to be the threaded vent tube for the axle that also attaches the brake hose to the axle tube.

The vent tube is Ford part number: E7TZ-4022-A (updated p/n) and is 7/16-20 X 1 29/32" long. The same vent tube was used on Dana 60's & 70's from 1975 thru the 1990's.

The vent tube (E7TZ-4022-A) is still available from Ford. List price: $9.07

The hose (D8TZ-2282-B) is obsolete, but FTE sponsor Green Sales has one (800-543-4959)

All F350's of this vintage have Dana 70 rear axles, not 60's.

If you decide to keep the vent cap (should be a hose clipped to the frame, as ND says ) make sure that you clean it out and rotate it once in a while to keep the passage open. This keeps pressure from building up in the axle assembly and possibly blowing seals.

On my D60 rear axle, it looks like that. The cap is spring loaded to remain closed but can release pressure to vent the axle. Mine was plugged and from the looks of it yours is too. Carefully remove the cap and clean out the center of the bolt holding the distribution block to the axle.
