Hey all! I have been gone racing this summer, once to Michigan, then to Kentucky. Previously I had had my 2004 Lemonbuyback F450 to local dealer for coolant barf. They reflashed the processor once, then re-marked the coolant bottle, then changed the fan clutch. I changed the radiator cap on my own. So here is the deal, I was still barfing coolant out when towing and in tow/haul mode. So since I had to go racing due to time constraints, I crossed my fingers and took off for Michigan and towed without using tow/haul mode. No barf! I just did the same thing from SoCal to Kentucky and back, and no barf! Is the programming in tow/haul that much more aggressive that the EGT temps are lots higher, causing the EGR cooler to heat up excessively, and barffing out the coolant??? Please note that this truck is running extremely well, and I am very satisfied with it, but still would like problem corrected inside of warranty. I am out! God Bless you all! And God Bless our Servicemen and women in harms way!!! DALEDIESEL
My 05 would puke only when towing, but ran great.. Had the head gaskets done under warranty and added ARP studs.. Turned out that 4 cylinders where leaking, 2 on each bank..
correct partsguy.. the towhaul changes shifting parameters such as rpm and throttle position , and t/c lockup , but does not affect any performance parameters such as timing or pulsewidth or anything that affects horsepower.
Since tow/hail mode changes the shift points though, he is probably seeing higher RPMs and boost levels when he is in tow/haul mode. These could be causing his puking problems.
Gents, thanks for the comments and feedback. Sounds like I better take it back to the dealer, and have them look a little deeper! Thanks again!!! I am out! Dale
