Body side mouldings were usually only present on 1965/66 F100/250 Styleside Custom Cabs & Rangers.

Standard Cabs did not come with body side mouldings, but they may have been an option, or an owner or body shop could have bought them at the parts counter, then installed them.

Anodized aluminum grille, headlamp doors, Styleside tail lamp bezels were not available for Standard Cabs.

Ask this fellow: FTE member tripleframe has all the original factory FoMoCo literature used by new truck sales peeps and fleet managers for 1961/66 trucks, because his dad was a fleet manager.

Your '66 has "outie" wheels and painted "outie" hubcaps. Tripleframe and I have had a few "go-arounds" because he says these were not available for 1965 F100's, but the parts catalog says they were.

Outie: So called because the hubcap snaps over tabs located on the outside of the wheels center section.

Innie: So called because the hubcap snaps over tabs located on the inside of the wheels center section.

All 1961/64 F100's have innie wheels/hubcaps. Parts catalog says 1965/66 F100's could have innies or outies, but tripleframe disagrees on '65 F100.

Strange, SMS Upholstery states these were the 2 combined colors but their names and descriptions to do appear to match that of SMS?

If your truck was a Custom Cab with beige seat upholstery:

D81 = Medium Beige Crush Vinyl & Medium Beige Cody Pattern Woven Plastic / 81 = 81B Custom Cab.

Geez Louise! I know it's not, but if it was, the medium crush vinyl would be the same, but the rest of the seat upholstery is woven plastic.

I have a Canadian made 48 Ford F-47. ID plate screwed to firewall says,
ENGINE-8E-3837 MODEL-BD83
TRIM-M-18005-C PAINT-M-14232
SERIAL-BD83H48-27416

None of this seems to match the LMC truck catalogue description so any info appreciated.
Thanks
Glen

LMC is a joke for anything serious. I'm not a bit surprised things don't match up.

That being said,

BLUE OVAL TRUCK PARTS has a decoding sheet for every generation, that seems to be fairly accurate.

But, do they have a VIN decoder for 1946/65 assembled and only sold new Canada Ford/Merc trucks? Probably not, because AFAIK, no repro parts seller does.

It doesn't match, because you're attempting to decode the above using a US truck VIN decoder.
Welcome to FTE

You posted this question in the wrong forum, this is the 1967/72 F100 and larger truck forum.

You want the 1948/56 F100 and larger truck forum. There are several members who can decode all this Canadian only info.

1946/68 Ford & Mercury trucks assembled in Canada were only sold new in Canada.

The VIN's and the codes stamped on Rating/Warranty Plates used thru 1965 are unique to Canada, they're not the same as US trucks.

Your first check might be the build date that is on the printed cab tag..... if that isn't visible, then use any of the decoding tools we've listed above. And if THAT doesn't work, look at one of those picture sheets that show the front end of each year....

Thank you for deciphering the serial code for me NumberDummy! My mother in law is having issues finding the title and no one was 100% sure what year it was.

Introduced in 1970, the Safety Standard Certification Label is glued to the B pillar below the striker plate.

Has the production date printed on the upper left corner, the VIN and misc GVWR's and tire sizes printed on it.

But this truck is a 1968, so it doesn't have this label.
