I have a 2007 Econoline 350 van that has recently developed a engine surge while stopping or at idle. I have a V-10 with 7000 miles on it. I have to step on the brake to stop it and it's scary when the van wants to take-off on its own.
At first I thought I had inadvertently hit the accelerator, but it's happened several times now and I'm sure that's not the problem. I am running large tires on the van and had the dealer calibrate the PCM when I first got the van.
I'll take it back to the dealer to see if any codes indicate a problem, but would appreciate anybody's input before I confront the dealer.
Sounds like an IAC valve problem but could be a vacuum leak too. Let the dealer look at it, it's under warranty, yes? What do you think of the '08 grill?
John
Thanks for the input. Somehow, I have the feeling that recalibrating the PCM may have something to do with the engine surging at idle or low speed. I'll mention the Idle Air Control valve and the vacuum leak possibility when I take the van to the dealer on Monday. In answer to your question on the new van grill design...I don't like it. Thanks again. Dan
