4.6L Headers

Im in the market for some headers for my 1999 F150 w/ 4.6L. I was looking on summit racing and I see there brand for about $150. how are the $150 summit headers compared to the flow tech headers for doulbe the price? Im not looking for stainless or ceramic coated headers cause they are out of my budget.

From the research I have done, those headers aren't very good. They crack and warp easier than other more expensive brands. I chose to go with BBK's because they have a 1 5/8s collector tube diameter as opposed to 1 1/2 for all the others.

For everyone; headers won't get you very much 'low end' performance for the expense and labor.
Go to the Anderson Ford website (AFM) and look at all the various dyno works that has been done on the 4.6, for mods and exhaust work.
You will see there are no gains below about 3600 rpm from any headers and it takes a combination of cams, inake and more changes to see any gains at all below this point.
The biggest point to exhaust for low rpm application is to keep the pipe diameter small. This keeps the gas speed of flow at a high level for scavanging. The trick is to size it just right between diameter and flow but there is still not much gain to be found.
Save your money unless your bound to do it for other reasons.

I've been toying with the idea of headers to my 97F250 LD w/4.6L for some added oomph for towing my 5k lb. camper. I was about to post the same question.
I'm after some MPG gain also.
Thanks bluegrass7 for the info!
