Need a carb. for a 226 6-cyl. Would like a ford carb. so i can keep the original air filter. I have a holley 847 but the air cleaner wont fit properly. Thanks Joe
I responded to that ad days ago and heard nothing more. I had requested a pic or bore size to see if the carb is the right one. I bought a load of old carbs to get the one I needed on my 63 falcon. I wonder if you are checking your messages.

Sorry it took so long to respond i dont get on every day.I will get a pict.and bore size sent soon.Joe
Thanks number, but why does the air filter fit the ford carb. but not the holley? The filter looks like the one in the service manual.Joe
Joe, I too wondered about that. In the box-o-carbs I bought there were 3 of the same carb marked "ford 6 cyl" 1 holley.1 fomoko and 1 carter. No 2 were the same mounting for the air filter housing. The carter has a lip so the air housing must have a mounting band/ring with a v shaped cross section, the holly has no stud on top so it must need a band on the housing to tighten or hold to carb, and the fomoko has a center stud for the wing nut.
I have the old Chilton repair manual from the 60's and it lists all 3 in the Ford 6 cyl section. I used the book to ID the carbs to scatter them about to the other motorheads in my posse. The 1 I have left for fords is a fomoko with the stud, but is too big a bore for my Falcon. I will hold it until we figure if it will work for you.

Send me your e-mail address Ciaf and i will send pict.their.If there is a way to do it on this site i dont know how.Joe
You have mail Joe.
P/S: you can always put a pic into your gallery and then copy to the forum, or- just refer to it in a post and readers can just look at your gallery to view the pic.
Joe, that is nothing like the carb I have here. Mine must be for a later engine or something. I will be at Sam's vintage in the AM and will have him look at the pic, he might have one as I have bought many many parts for my 48-52 's in the past. Sorry, but glad you figured out the gallery thing.
