hi guys! please xcuse typing. im new at this. have researched forum & still cant find definitive answer. 85 f150 4.9 tsod has gauges but no tach. i have factory tach(e6te) & have cluster out. i have wired ground & switched power for tach(came w/o printed circuit). where do i get coil/dist signal? i have dark grn/yel @ pin11; blk/lt grn @ pin12 dash connector. 11 hot w/switch on; 12 is not. i have non-duraspark dist w/ onboard module. coil only has 2 wires on connector. no tach or even which is + or -. i read that a guy connected pin 11 to sig on tach & blew his module. can anyone tell me what to wire my sig terminal to? any help would be greatly appreciated.
The factory wired it to the darkgreen/yellow. That's the same wire going to one of your coil teminals.
The other wire going to the tach is supposed to come from a black/lightgreen that is hooked to the ignition module and the dist. I am not sure that is what you would consider power.
The diagram shows two different ways to wire it, depending on if you have the old duraspark II ignition with the vacuum line going to the dist, or if you have the TFI ignition with a computer and no vacuum to the dist.
thanks for the reply. i traced the dk grn/yel from the dash connector. the wire changed color along the way to the coil, but after cking continuity i hooked it up. for the power i simply used an option connector behind the panel, hardwiring a ground to a nearby brace. the tach works fine. im amazed. with the 2.47 gear only 1500 rpm @ 50mph! now i can make the right choice of gears to make it more responsive. thanks again!
