couldnt believe how much oil has went up, anyway i cheaped out on my oil this oil change p/u autozone brand 10w/30 in the 5 quart jug onsale 7.64 a jug good filter, had this and tropartic 5 quarts same price.the name brands started at 12.00 a jug for my 302,been getting free oil from my brother for 4 or 5 years, mobile one.cases of closeouts he picked up cheap working in the oil industry.this autozone oil will be ok.wont it.truck drove maybe 100 miles a month.
You will be fine Autozone oil is made by WPP check the bottom of the jug.
I think Autozone oil is actually Warren Oil out of North Carolina not Warren Performance Products but still should serve the purpose. Warren Oil and Coastal are the same or at least have merged. If it is Warren/Coastal I think it will have a C with a little starburst looking thingy in it. Does not matter if it SL rated or better you will be fine.
FWIW, I was in Advance Auto last weeek buying Pennzoil or Havoline, can't remember which. I like them both and they run 'em on sale pretty cheal on occasion.
Anyways, I asked the counter guy what their top selling motor oil was.
He said house brand Advance Auto and Castrol.
Interesting contrast I thought.
I have run house brands on several occasions and never seen of, or known of a problem due to them.
I knew Castrol was the top-selling DIY brand. They spend more on ads than anyone.
House brands probably sell better than ever because oil prices have gone up so much in the last few years. I find myself using ProLine 15W-40 in the old Dodge because Delo 400 is now so expensive. The Toyota has BigLots Havoline Syn in it now, but the last change was with Coastal Syn, which I got for a buck a quart on clearance.
