Ok, just installed my John Wood VB. It performs awesomely with my DP. Nice firm shifts, feels much better than stock. Now to the concerns. I installed an aluminum deep trans pan and am having leak problems at the rear of the pan. I inspected the gasket at removal and all seemed well, but am concerned with the leaking. Is there any suggestions from any of you on remedies for this problem short of dropping the pan again and re-trying? Is it common to not get a proper seal when re-installing trans pans aftermarket or stock? I am actually considering re-using the old pan if this is the required course of action as the aluminum pan also has a leaking drain plug. $200 I feel I should have spent somewhere else I think.
Also as a warning to anyone flushing their transmission themselves. Be very careful how much fluid you add to get to your 18 quarts. I drained my tranny until it was sputtering in the clear tubing from the return line and added only 16 quarts with a deep tranny pan which is to hold up to 4 extra quarts, and realized that I was about 7 quarts overfull! Did I mis-read those instructions somewhere?
Thanks in advance fellas
The directions I had said that if you drain the fluid from the return line and turn on the engine, cycle through the various gears that it will drain the various vb's and torque converter. I torqued the bolts to 12 ft/lbs.
Yah, I guess I didn't quite grasp that even after reading it like 7 times! Seems painfully obvious afterwards however. Hard to tell how much fluid you dump when it is sitting in a huge drain pan that isn't graduated. Live and learn I guess.
