Well I have owned my 6.0 only a a week and a half and like it for the 1200 miles so far. But I am really starting to regret getting rid of my 01 7.3. The 6.0 seems really complicated to modify at all even to put a simple thing like an exhaust with out something screwing up. It sounds like if you do any thing to it its going start having problems, I had this same problem with a 05 duramax which is why I am driving fords now. The egr scares the hell out of me and do I dare take the cat of without fear of throwing codes around every corner. I guess I am just lookin for some reassuance that I did the right thing in buying a newer truck with less miles on it instead of trusting my old trusty .3 to go 300000 miles, Aaron
Actually you can do whatever you wish within reason.. Your thinking of the 6.4 which removal of the exhaust systems causes some pretty crazy problems.. On the 6.0, you can put a new Turbo back on and be just fine.. I run a straight exhaust, no codes are thrown.. Your safe in removing the cat
What about the egr cooler I have been reading about? I may be just paranoid but worried about having trouble, I have been talking to evan foster a little but dont want to bother him with silly questions until I am ready to buy the tuner but I also want the necessary things done before hand so i dont damage my truck.
What about the egr cooler I have been reading about? I may be just paranoid...
You could rename the EGR cooler "engine killer" AFAIC. As of this writing I don't know what's going on with my truck, when I can expect it back, how much it's going to cost, nothin'.
It's gotten so bad the original service adviser quit the dealership, the current service adviser doesn't respond to voice mails (maybe she quit too?), and an employee of a different dealership called me today asking what was going on with my truck over at dealer X, because the techs there are calling his dealership for help on my truck. My confidence this thing will ever be fixed correctly is subzero.
The 6.0L powerstroke has been the most miserable automotive experience of my life.
