Same '95 F350 CC auto as before-
Just got another trans installed (the third one in two years of owning the truck, 15k miles!). The trans tech said the connector at the trans is reading .5V on the TCC 12-volt wire and 10.5V at the TCC ground wire. They didn't warranty this one... I trailered it back to my shop and now am kinda stuck. I'm really thinking it's the computer, because all the wires look ok. Can someone give me a labeled drawing of the trans connector so i can check for myself?
I also happened to look at the engine badge and the engine is a '97. Could this be causing problems? Truck's got 47K on it and already had the engine replaced and the trans three times?
Also having trouble with the ICP sensor- the truck runs better with the sensor disconnected. Replaced the sensor and still runs like crap when it's connected. Any advice on that? How can i test the power to that sensor?
I really am beginning to think this truck is a lost cause, and now i see why my boss found this truck for so cheap. Any help is appreciated!!!
You need to begin with a good runing engine before tackling the trans.
IF the truck runs better with the ICP disconnected you need a new one. When it's disconnected the PCM runs the engine from a set of predetermined values..it will run, but not very good. It may also affect the tranny, so you need to start there.
If it ever ran OK then the engine being a 97 wouldn't matter.
Well that ICP is what I need to figure out first- I put a new sensor in and connected it, and it still runs the same- rough idle, very touchy throttle (I touch the throttle and the rpm's will jump up, meaning i can't rev it to just 1200, It will jump to about 2000). I think that is what killed the trans because before i disconnected the ICP, it was pretty much like getting in the truck and flooring it all the time. When the check engine light would come on, it would run better. The code was for the ICP circuit. Is there a way to test the circuit or sensor? I need help!!!! Thanks
You need to get it scanned with scanner that will record live data. This will eleminate the guessing and possibly show proof that the tranny rebuilder needs to honor the warranty.
