2005 transmission

I posted a few days ago that I am considering a 2005 Escape. (3.0 automatic) I am trying it out for a few days before I make up my mind. I must say that I am very impressed so far. I do have a question about the transmission. I put it up on a lift and wandered around checking it all out. I see that it has a drain plug in the transmission but no removable pan. Does it have a serviceable transmission fluid filter?

The Escape transmission does not have a pan like most transmissions. The filter can only be changed when the case is opened. I have 115,000 mikes on my Escape and drain the transmission fluid at 30,000 miles by dropping the plug and refilling with the correct transmission fluid. Much simpler then most cars. So far no problems or signs of wear.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I did end up buying the vehicle so I will be checking in here too, as well as the Ranger Forum. I have not owned an automatic for about 20 years but have been driving them as issued vehicles for nearly 30 years. I am a firm believer in changing the ATF on a regular basis and have never had any automatic transmission problems what so ever in my own or issued vehicles. I will be following the same schedule that you do. Thanks again.
