Thanks Eric
I bought the HI-6 about a year ago. I am using a stock distributor with a Pertronics ignitor instead of the points.
I also use the large cap which you can get at your local store along with the larger adjustible rotor.
The Crane Fireball is a capacitive discharge unit with multi spark. It also has an adjustible rev limit. I had to call crane to find out how to hook up the petronics to it. I use the large square coil that is made for it. It is everything I wanted in an ignition system and I believe it is every bit as good as an MSD at a much better price. I had a lot of problems with my Mallory and finally took my old ford dis. and traded it in on a rebuilt and added the petronics. The rebuilt was only about$39 and you have to set the mec advance rate and limit, but you have to do that anyway.
Just a note on one of the crane setup have the adjustable rev limiter, you can turn it to 800 and use it as a security system. The engine will start but they won't be able to go very fast and they will probably never figure it out.
I've been looking at the Crane for this reason and the fact that it's so much cheaper than all the others.
