Ive run synthetic for a while now back on Delo Rotella, im doing my oil this weekend. Does anyone use any additives like Marvels mystery or any stabilizers with their oil???

The Delo or Rotella will be fine without the use of any additives. Just make sure you change at the proper interval.

When i check it at the pump and it needs a little it gets a little, when it needs a little more, it gets changed I run about 400miles a week so i change it alot. I have just never run anything but the oil, a PSD mechanic at a local dealership runs marvels in his TDI 7.3, just wondered if any of us did.

Yes, and it didn't do a darn thing for me. I noticed absoutley no difference between before and after. I put it in with a fresh change, ran it 4K miles...no difference. The frustrating part for me was their "money back guarantee" if it doesn't help. I tried several times to get in touch with them to get a refund and didn't even so much as get a single response. Some may say it works, but for me it was a total waste of money.

Be careful with oil additives, you are changing the chemistry of a substance that is designed to meet certain specifications. Do your homework before adding anything. Check out bobistheoilguy.com

Sorry to hear that. I got flamed back in April when I asked for a technical data sheet on the product. So much for them backing up there product....

I wouldn't try any additive in a synthetic oil. I run dino in my truck, and tried lucas. It gave it the romps so I stuck with straight 15-40 for a while. I have always run stp in my gassers and decided to try it in my truck. It really seemed to clear up a slight miss at idle. Or it could just been the fresh oil, or maybe i'm just crazy. I'm not sold on any miracle - money back guaranteed, expensive oil. Slick50 or HSS maybe, but that is about it. I think I will continue to run stp in my truck with each oil change though.

I bought my mom a 92 lincoln with 90k on it. We rebuilt the motor at 225k and the inside was absolutely spotless. It got a bottle of stp with every oil change. That, and when the PS pump in my truck got a little whiney, I put a little in it and it quieted right up. To each his own, but I have has good luck with that honey looking stuff.

I think I know why your truck had the romps with Lucas - too much air in the oil. This link made me never ever want to try Lucas:

If any of my friends tell me they're running Lucas, I show them this...they promptly change their oil.

Yep, that got my pops and I away from the stuff real quick. And it gave my truck the romps.

Benny, I know youve probably already seen this, but look here http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/images/lucas/lucas.htmabout half way down the page you will see where he tests DELO 15 40 with an additive(lucas) but notice how much air becomes entrapped in the oil.

EDIT: I was looking for the link while Jeremy was already on top of it.

What could you notice Jeremy? There was probably not a thing wrong with your injectors to begin with. If I was you, I would be worried that I was filtering the anti-foam additive package out of the oil. JK

But seriously, I was wondering how the additives hold up under extended OCIs with bypass systems. Is that one of the things they analize? BTW, don't want to start another OA OCI war. Just a simple ?

I figured with nearly 170K on them, I'd see some increase in performance, smoothness, MPG...something. 170K is a lot of time for some gunk to get built up inside the injectors. That was my thought anyway.
