I've fitted efi to a Holley Street Dominatorr and it works
OK
That engine uses 2V and CJ valves - goes pretty hard.
But next I will be building something a little bigger.
I need to choose heads and manifold.
I think the Edelbrocks are the most cost effective ? ( any comments)
I'd like to get better/bigger single plan the Holley.
Is the Offy single plane still available ?
Is there a tunnel ram for "std" heads ?
Are than any other single plane
I dont think the RPM is really a good choice for efi.
If you want a single plane type, the Streetmaster is a good choice with heavy mods. Most think the Streetmaster is too small, but Edelbrock designed this intake to be ported to fit your needs. It has a lot of material in the area you need to port and responds very well on most apps.
The RPM range is about idle to 5000, and a 1" open spacer helps a lot. They can be had for <$125.
Edelbrock is making a new Victor single plane intake with an air gap but the rpm range is 2500~6500 and that's a bit much for most street apps.
The Ed heads are great and by the time you rebuild and port/polish stock heads, your close to the same price, so they are a good choice.
I just looked at the new Victor for FE's, I think that is the one for me. Using EFI covers many of the short comings that small runners are designed to over come. My Holley Street Dominator (a little bigger than the StreetMaster) was "gooeey" down low with a carb (600 Vac) but with port injection it is very strong from idle to 6000 rpm.
