New owner of a 97 E250 and with the colder mornings coming, i've noticed that my heater doesn't work. About how much might it take to get fixed. I know there might be different issues, but I'm looking at worst case scenario.
First with the engine warm/running temp, check the coolant level, careful don't open radiator cap quickly and get burned. If the radiator is low, that could be the problem, simply fill the radiator to the bottom of the neck, also make sure you're overflow bottle is full to the line. If coolant level is good, it could simply be a bad/stuck thermostat. Bob
the wire on my f250 is almost shot...it sparks all over the place. your heater may be fine...the wire might not be right. the wire is an easy fix...im not too sure on how much a new one will run ya.
Fivefin,
I have a '97 E-150. Bought it new back in 1997. Within a year or two I was having problems with no heat. It ended up being the flap/door that controls the hot/cold control cracked and got stuck in the cold air position. It happened twice and the dealer fixed it twice since it was under warranty. Just thought I'd share this with you so you can keep this possibility in mind if the other leads don't work out.
