cab swaping

im considering swaping cabs ive found a good one for 150 obo. im looking at putting a 1990 150 regular xlt cab that had ac. on my f 450 dump truck. my floor is pretty bad io think it will be slightly harder to swap then fix the floors well.

now its a deisel and no a/c so my question is what am i going to have to change under dash? is the box outside the truck? would i just swap the box and control panel? wire harness or will it just have unused plugs?

one is stick one is not
one is 1991 one is 90

ok well if all you need is floors then just replace the floors. believe me its a LOT easier then swapping cabs. are you going from standard to an automatic setup in the cab or vice versa? if you are going from an standard cab thats in your truck to an auto cab then all you would have to do really would be swap over the steering column and make a hole in the floor and also swap your pedal assembly. if your going from an auto cab thats on your truck and putting a standard cab, you could have some fun and make a floor shifter for the auto! the year cabs will fit. im not sure on the wiring harness but i would imagine that you would have to swap the harness in the cab for the one thats in your truck right now. and possibly swap the cluster too so you get the correct odometer reading with the vehicle. with the a/c the only thing that would change in the different cabs would be the controls. all the a/c stuff is on the firewall and can easily be swapped out if. all the venting is the same just the controls are different. good luck

well the floor is getting into the pinch weld starting to hit the bottom of the a pillar. and its into the reinforcing pannel that is also the cab mount. i ca see it taking me just as long to do the bulk of the work swapping cabs as fixxing the floors.

it will be done this winter in a heated shop with 3 lifts and every tool under the sun.

so besides the pedals and colum, im looking at the heater box, cluster, under dash harness, heater controls., and cutting a new hole for my spreader valve and hoses.

so i figure one day to da down my new cab tape it. spray it single stage blue the next day. one day to prep the truck, one day to swap over asnother to reassemble or 2. so 6 days

and i have till early spring to prep the new cab, and all winter off to do it.
plus i have 2 people to help me and i and one other are mechanics.

ok i think im going to do it
