I'm having trouble starting my vehicle. On my dash, a red circle with a key in it with a line across it is flashing. It looks like ("no key"). Not sure what indicator this is since its not found anywhere in my owners manual... wierd... anyone know what I'm talking about and what this indication refers to?
sounds like the light that flashes all the time in mine.
unless you put the key with the correct transponder in the ignition it stays on. (mind you as i dont have a key without a transponder to try, i am hoping it is like an imobiliser)
may be the transponder has broke in your key , try a spare key and see if that works.
the ONLY thing in my 2005 Ex owners manual on the instrument cluster that could even resemble a 'key' would be the speed control symbol on the right side lower middle area just to the left of the BRAKE light...and that shows up as GREEN...I am looking at the manual now...and for the life of me I can't figure out which symbol on the Excursion dash you could mean.
What year may help too...as my '05 may not have the same symbols...mine does have that 'theft' symbol in the top just to the right of the right blinker arrow...perhaps earlier years used a 'key' for 'theft'?...just a thought...
I did have mine once display 'theft' when I put the key in and turned...got NOTHING...I removed the key, reinserted it, and all was good...just a thought.
Do you have the manual?
If not...go to this link to download a soft copy of yours.
