gasket question

gasket question

im doing a oil pan replacement on my 95 f150 5.0l, i had to remove the oil pump to get the pan off, is there a gasket where it mounts? anything special i need to do before i close the pan and drop the engine down?

yes, there is a gasket. dont tforget to prime the pump before installing it.

You should have gotten two with your new pump. One where it connects to the block and another for the pickup tube. I just did mine and it came with two. A trick that was suggested on this forum that I used and it really helped, was to use a rubberband to hold the oil pump shaft in place until you got the pump bolted in.

i have the gasket for the pickup tube, all the parts stores around here are saying there is no gasket for the pump, im useing the old pump, nothing wrong with it.to prime it i just dump some oil in it is that correct?

yes. oil in inlet and outlet ports.
