This has probably been asked many times before but when was the last 352 put in a truck? I have a friend with a 68 F250 that he rolled and I am interested in buying the motor out of it. We think it has a 390 in it as he bought it from the orginal owner and thought it was a 390 but it has an air cleaner that says 352 on it. The truck has only around 80,000 miles on it and was a camper special. Thanks in advance Greg NE
Greg, find a piece of 14-2 house wire about 10" long, and pull the white wire out of the jacket. Remove one of the front spark plugs and stick the wire in the hole. PLace a pencil on the white jacket and have someone turn the engine over with a wrench on the crankshaft bolt. Measure the mark from top to bottom. 3.5" = 352, 3 3/4" = 390 The truck could have a 360 in it as well 390 block with a 352 crank.
Have fun guessing and let us know what you find. :-)

In the cool still quiet of night you can hear chevies rusting away.
1967 was the last year for the 352, as the 360 was introduced in 1968. The only difference is the 352 has a 4.00" bore, whereas the 360 has the 4.05" bore also found in the 390. Both the 352 and 360 have a 3.50" stroke. If you measure a 3.50" stroke, you can check the casting numbers to see if it is a 68 or later block. If so, you've almost certainly got a 360. If the stroke is 3.78", you've got a 390.
