99.5 SD,250,7.3,6 spd.The stop on the cockpit end of the cable came off and cable feathered. Will I just buy a forward cable section or will I have to buy rears also? Is there a step by step anywhere on this site.Thanx.
Not having a 99.5 SD in front of me, all I can say is almost every Ford (RWD - drum brakes) I worked on had a front cable, then it went to an adjuster and off the adjuster comes the rear cable.
Easy enough to search on Advance Auto to find them.

I may have got hosed.I nursed my truck to a local mechanic to R/R a broken brake line at the frame (left) and as a good mechanic looking for a buck,he said my rear shoes were worn completely down and needed changing,I said ok.He showed me a pair of worn disc brakes so I would know how bad they were.I always thought the rears on a 99.5 were drums.so,did he put it to me?
u dont know if u have drum or disc? look through the wheel, u can see which it is.
if its shiny, its disc. dull, dirty, rusty, its drum.
but most had disc.
but did he say ur shoes were worn, or ur rea brakes were worn?
If you have drum brakes and he showed you worn discs, you have indeed been had. I hope that is not the case.
After getting off my **** and visually checking the brakes, they are disc's.I thought I'd been had when previous message said all RWD had drums.Thanx for your input.
