Larry's Performance

Just wanted to let you all know to avoid doing business with these clowns. I bought a 302 short block from them over a year ago. They sent me a 289 block, but I said oh well it has a 302 crank even though the block is weaker. On break in three lobes flattened out on the cam and after about a two month turn around they sent me a new cam. I had to buy my own gaskets and a new timing chain because they sent me a different style cam than the enginge came with. Well, back up and running I get 50 miles on it and it begins knocking. After tear down three cylinders and pistons a severely worn and the other 5 look like new.

The local machine shop says there was not enough clearance on those cylinders and that is why the damage from friction. Larry's has heehawed around and told me to email pictures which I have done twice. When I call they say they haven't gotten the pics. They don't return calls or answer emails. I am out about $1,400.00 and don't even have a useable block.

Just be warned.

sounds like you need to report them to the BBB and have a lawyer mail them a letter advising them about possibley taking them to court.

now the cam part could very well been your fault but the rest obviously isnt.

The BBB has no teeth they only report on businesses that are members, It is something to look at when doing business but if you don't find the business that doesn't mean they are okay, It just means they are not members and could be top notch or schmucks who do crap work and wouldn't join because they know they stink!!
Now If you do get the right lawyer he can make some things happen for you, I always say get a lawyer who has a retainer around $500.00 anymore and they probably have the attitude they are the best lawyer and you have to pay me alot to even look at your case, most of them have their paralegals do all the work and you will only see him or her on ths court date or they will press for a settlement and you won't see him. A hungry lawyer is the one who will fight and be there when you need
him and put up a fight in court. For criminal, traffic or divorce I would go with the hungry one over the ones that are full of them self driving a porsche cayenne!! For child support cases I would find someone who specializes in that whatever the cost!!
That sucks to hear about the motor, might as well have done it yourself it would have turned out better if you did it with a pair of needle nose and some vice grips!!

I did rebuild the original engine after the fact. I drive the F100 daily so I thought getting a short block would be a quick turn around. Boy was I wrong.
