Saw this at Goodguys Ft Worth. Neat idea on a reverse opening hood on our trucks. Can anyone enlighten me as to why my pictures loose clarity when I resize them? Any advice on how to change that? Joe
Joe, that looks like a simple hood prop? The rod merely fits into the two holes holding the hood up, is that correct? Nice set up. I think that would work on original hoods also. I used gas shocks on mine which worked nicely. I got rid of the gas shocks when I replaced my inner fenders. I also saw a 41 Willeys that had a locking mechanism (similar to a folding table leg, or ping pong table leg) It was mounted on the center of the firewall and then on the hood. When he opened the hood, it would lock preventing the hood from dropping, then to release it, he merely pushed the arm and closed the hood. It was very clean looking. Wish I had taken some pics.
Ed, yes it is a simple rod. Sam, the problem is not enlarging, it is reducing. By the way , just saw your gallery re: one piece glass install. Thanks for good info. Might try this myself, would like to get rid of vent window noise. We have a son on the Austin Fire Dept. and come fairly often. Maybe I could get a close up loook at your truck sometime. What wheel did you decide on? Joe
Joe, there are a few round' here with similar set ups. The only thing different was the hole on the hood end. The owner made a slotted "keyhole" type of a hole so that the rod needed to be but in at a 90 degree angle (3 o'clock) position to lock in if you will and then the firewall end had a small hole for a pin . Seems that a wind had sucked the hood forward at one time, let the rod fall out , and then the hood slammed shut and did some damage. I think the prop is a great idea.
