Dealer told me that having the cat removed could void manufacture 100,000/5 year warranty.

How about you adam? No issues getting warranty work on your 05?

Yea , I hear that. Problem I got is since the cat has been removed, the dealer pretty much is stating that they cannot properly debug an issue until everything has been returned to stock under warranty. Makes sense I guess.

At most is that they really can just void your exhaust warranty, they are either A. saying that as a scare tactic or B. they are looking ways around doing warranty work. Now there are some legitimate problems with being able to diagnose some things with a catless system however, that's not related to voiding or not voiding warranty.

So there is no O2 sensor PRE/POST the cat? If thats the case, how does the system know when it's running rich or lean?

Thanks for the replys.

To my knowledge it doesn't unless it has some other means that I'm not thinking about that it can(now I'm not a mechanic so I could very well be wrong about that, but if it does I would think that it would have set off some codes with a couple of rich tunes that I've run on it), now I'm thinking with the 08s it will have that ability.

Diesel's don't try to detect a rich/lean condition. They are lean by default and just add fuel. The computer tells it how much fuel and duration based on other variables. This is also why it is so important to match your induction system with your fueling needs. Too much fuel and not enough boost(O2) and you get smoke. Too much boost and not enough fuel and you're just down on power.

4x4Mark has this one covered.

There is no electronic monitoring configuration system on the 6.0 for catalyst monitoring. All air/fuel ratios are calculated by the Mass Fuel, Mass Air, and inferred volumetric efficiency parameters of the PCM.

I can't image that my induction/exhaust system is that far off from one another to casue issues? Do you guys?

Your induction - variable geometry turbo (VGT) -is controlled by various inputs that Matt referenced, in to exhaust back pressure (EBP) on some models. If anything is not functioning properly, you can have problems. The EBP sensor has been removed from the equation on certain model years with a recall and those values then get inferred from other parameters. If any of the sensors are not ready properly, or your VGT is not adjusting properly, problems can occur.
