transfer case

can i use a Borg-Warrner 13-56 transfer case from a 1990 5.8L f150 to replace the borg-warrner transfer case in my 1996 5.0L f150. Im not sure if the bolt pattern for bolting it up to the transmition is the same, or even if there are any changes for the transfer case in the six years between the two of them. i dont want to take the transfer cases out of the two trucks and find out that it wont work. help would be appreciated thanks.

I'm assuming it's a 1356 coming out of the 96 as well? Also, what transmissions in each?

the transmition in the 1990 f150 as well as the 1996 f150 are both four speed automatic with over drive. Im not to sure if the two transmitions would be the same, the 1990 is a 351ci and the 1996 is a 302ci. I dont know if that would make a diffrence i dont know enough about it.

gawd I wish I could help you more but.......the 90 probabaly has an aod tranny but I don't know bout the 96.......I beleive that the t-cases will completely swap the major obstacle is the output shaft length between the trannies but the tailshaft adapter should compensate for that.....

thank for the help. I wasnt sure if it would be able to blot right up without an adapter, i was just looking to save a few bucks. It sounds like it will be easyer to just look for a transfer case for a 1996. you dont know if a transfer case from any other year such as 94 or 95 might work or would i run into the same problems

It'snot the T-case I'd be worried about......it'd be a matching tranny..then you KNOW it'll bolt up.....if you've got an E4OD tranny i got an electronic T-case in a parts truck.....
