I got to change the lower ball joint on old red.
Has anyone done this and how big a job is it on a 1987 F150 4x4, manual lockouts? And is there some place online I can get more information about this procedure?
I looked in my Haynes manual but doesnt seem real helpful.

Did mine this spring on my 1987 4x4 f-150. If you do one might as well do them all. Go ahead & check your axle shaft u-joints, now's a good time to replace them. It wasn't to hard just took alot of time. Mine had never been replaced, I just got the trk & that was the first thing I did. The nut on top of the camber/caster was rusted so bad you couldn't even make out what it was. I had to cut it off using a 4"grinder using a cutting wheel. Make sure you replace everything with Moog parts, they come with grease fittings & are about the best. I got mine from http://www.rockauto.com/I then found out the local carquest auto parts could get them. http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us...rInfoPages.htm
GO RENT THE BALLJOINT PULLER, after you're done they'll give you you're money back, Good Luck

You dont need a ball joint press a hammer and socket work fine.
Mark your camber sleeve to save on re aligning. Do both sides and replace all of it.
Good time to pack berings too.
