Thanks FTE: I solved my problem.
My 2002 wouldn't start. It would turn over, but not start. So I did what I was supposed to do. I searched the forums and found the possible solutions, and it ended up being a bad battery.
I thought it would be the ugly looking battery. I bought the truck used, and these are the same batteries it had when I got it. Ended up being the "pretty" battery that was bad.
When testing it with the voltmeter it was 12.4 V. However, when the Zone put a load on it, it dropped to 0.11 V. Too bad so sad, but, it was a relatively inexpensive fix. Thanks for that.
I didn't have any help to put a meter on it while cranking, or I would have known right then. BUT, I would not have known to do that if not for the forums.
I was happy it died in the driveway, rather than somewhere out in town.
Thanks for all the knowledgeable posters on here. What would we mere mortals do without you all? I can turn a wrench, but diagnosing?? Naah, takes a pro or a serious mechanic dude for that. And I don't know any diesel mechanics. Except for the people on here. And they are always available!!
Thanks,
Donnie
Strokin_it7.3 may be correct about this site saving you more than $15 with only 6 posts, but BEWARE. This place will also convince you to do all sorts of things to your truck that you never would have thought of on your own. The nice thing is you'll have the benefit of others experience before trying it yourself.
As far as saving you money in the long run, it depends on how much your truck breaks down. As far as making you happier and more confident with your vehicle, theres no question.
Welcome to the site.
