I was considering ordering a Milodan cheater gear drive but a friend told me that Milodan stuff was junk. Anybody have experience with these or know of any other gear drives for the FE series?
Actually I would like a belt drive and in my dreams I pick up a summitt catalogue and find one in it.
there's part of your problem, dont pick up a summit catalog for a reference, go with a PAW first, then order through summit, that's what I always do. Also have you checked into Danny Bee? they make a FE belt drive, but it's expensive, your just as well off with a good double roller, it'll send a lot less harmonics into the valvetrain than those gears will.
thenkel2,
Can you tell me some things about your experience with it?
Does it sound real loud? Is it a pain to degree the cam?
I can't get the luxury of having the valve timing permanantly
"right on" out of my mind and I understand that harmonics are not a problem at 6000 and under RPM.
What application are you using it for?

One thing i noticed with gear drives, the engine never gets better with age!
ie usually with a chain you set the cam a little advanced - so from new it pulls hard.
but over time it seems to bed in and get better
this is often the cam retarding
We used this feature often in endurance racing, where the first part of the race required torque but later as tha race settled down the HP was needed
