Got the '08!
Picked up the new F250 PSD on Friday after a seven-week wait. Actually the dealer called on Thursday and said that the truck would not be in for another week and then called on Friday to let me know that the truck was in. Odd that they don’t seem to know where their stock is. The dealer was great and they gave me a full tank of diesel. Some first impressions:
Man, this thing is a truck! This is my first Superduty and first diesel. It’s going to take a little getting use to but I think I can manage.
The thing looks heavy and drives heavy but that is to be expected.
It takes a fair amount of effort on the steering wheel to get it to turn and don’t expect to be cutting sharp corners.
The SD is amazingly quite at highway speeds. I’m surprised that there is so little wind noise coming from the big mirrors.
God I love the sound of that 6.4L!
I haven’t hammered on it much yet but oh that power! It pours on real smooth after those turbos spin up.
What’s up with the lag between shifts?
After 100 miles of mixed city/highway driving the lie-o-meter says 16.8 mpg. Saw it hit 18.3mpg on the freeway at 65mph. Not too bad but lay on that go pedal and you can watch the fuel gauge head south.
It’s massive, it’s Ford Tough and I like it.
I’ll be towing a 24’ utility trailer next month. Can’t wait.
