A good idea to try a good engine cleaner, it can`t hurt.
For really bad stains I`ve used oven cleaner before they had to change the formula, not it`s not as good any more. I couldn`t leave it on too long as it would harm the paint and rubber components but it sure made a nice job of cleaning up. Now it`s not near as effective nor does it work as well.

I would spray some engine cleaner on the motor just before going into the wash. Just when the engine is all warm the grease will be softer. Let it soak about 10 minutes. It wuill get more off than the degreasers the car washes have.

well, got the core fixed. just had to trim an inch off the hoses, they were crazed and cracked and weren't giving a good seal. took the missus for a run...with a big smile on my face from the truck of course. now to get some pipe and put some exhaust on 'er...

yup. headers, 4bbl carb, intake...gotta do some learning about cams and all that stuff. i want to get it tuned up nice as a runner for now, get the body nice, rims/tires, then a little more performance.

I was thinking since the exhaust is loud headers would be a good start, depending of course on what exhaust work is needed.

well, its gone about 3 feet after the Y, so its pretty nasty. i've been doing some research on whether to go with long tube or shorties, and it seems like long tubes are the way to go. then some pipe exiting in front of the rear wheels...

Personally I would go with the exit behind the rear tires. It looks so much better.

While long tubes are nice they normally have a lot more clearance problems plus they can make starter removal a nightmare.
