Could be a bad hose like you said, clamp not tight enough, or you got a bad core.

did you clean out the heater box inside the cab? Antifreeze can collect inside of that... and if you didn't clean the cabside....

Scary. I replaced my heater core a couple of years ago, and dont plan to have to do it again for a long time. There are cheap cores out there. If you are buying another core, you might shop for a different brand. Cheap is not always better.

I found out the hard way...You need to be very gentle with heater cores. It's not to hard to brek the solder joint where the heater hose tubes connect to the core on the brass ones. Just wiggling a hose trying to free it from the heater core did it for me.

Sounds like you need another heater core.

I was getting ready to warn about the same thing. Always cut old heater hoses off heater cores, never twist to break them loose. And be gentle putting the new ones on, and don't get carried away with hose clamp pressure. You can actually crush the pipe. I have learned all this the hard way.

well i was lucky. the core was/is fine, the hoses needed about an inch cut off the ends, then the clamps tightened good. problem is solved.
