I'm looking at getting a superduty 01 f350 std cab long box ( i think). I has a utility box on it right now. How much would it be to put a regular bed back on it? Is this a dumb idea? It's only got 143,000 miles on it and they want 12,000 for it. It has 4x4 power options 7.3 ect. Thanks !
It is really not that hard if you have a means to lift the boxes, it will be harder to lift the utility bed off than it will be to put the OEM box back on. Only hard part is that if the utility box uses OEM bolts they can be tough to get loose. 143,000 miles is not a lot for a diesel, but for 12k, it better be a diesel.
Check to see if the truck is a chassis cab. Chassis cab models have a different frame from the regualr trucks, it is narrower and flat on top all the way from the cab to the back. Mounting a OEM box would be difficult. Chassis cabs have an incomplete vehicle label on the drivers door jam.
