i have 2001 f250 5.4 sc lariat. My neighbor used his snap on scanner on it. it comes up p1000. i never disconnected the battery or had anything on motor fixed in three years. there are no modifications to engine. I didn't have a service engine light i just wanted to see what it said. do i have to run the engine awhile to warm it up or shouldn't that matter for p1000. My extended warranty is almost up so i was wondering if i should call my ford dealer or is it minor.
P1000 - Monitor Testing Not Complete The on board diagnostic II (OBD II) monitors are performed during the OBD II Drive Cycle. The DTC will be stored in continuous memory if any of the OBD II monitors do not complete.
Sounds like the computer did not get a chance to finish it's monitor cycle before shut off. According to the service manual this code is cleared by putting the truck through a driving cycle.
I keep hearing this driving cycle answer but what is a drive cycle? I have the same code ( P1000 ) and I have driven put 1300 miles on it and still there. My problem is that state of Mass will not give me a Good (have emissions reject on there now pisses me off!!) sticker with that code in there. I have an 02 350 CC with a 5.4 about 95000 on it.
02-F30, did you ever get rid ofyour code? I am in the same situation, now with expired tags and I still have to "drive around more"... not good. My code will not go away even after replacing the gas cap and disconnecting the battery twice now to reset the PCM
I do not know if the code ever left or was reset. I took it to the dealer and said get a sticker on this and he did. I was told that the P1000 code was triggered when the improper weigth being entered when I went for the sticker the first time. Not sure if that code was there from before or it was from weight. I was also told that sometimes the newer fords get that p1000 and it never clears even after driving it. Now as I stated this was for my inspection sticker. Not much info on my part, sorry.
