Cool 01 explorer sport

i recently bought an 01 explorer sport. it is replacing a 1996 xlt explorer with 170000 miles on it. i am having a hard time finding the original code for the keyless entry. i have pulled the computer module out of the firewall and there is a 5 digit sticker on it, but it is not the correct code. where is the correct place to find the original factory code? i have spoke with the previous owner, and he never had the code. i think it is wrong for ford to not have this code readily available for the new owner of this truck,,,,(me).. owners man. says it should be on the computer mod. but i have been told that this may or may not be true. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks polarisman

the module that i looked at is located on the firewall a little more to the passenger side.. i had to remove 4 nuts and then pull the wiring harness out of the way to get to the module. the module you are refering to is on the wheel well? which wheel well? and is this where there is supposed to be a keyless entry code located? thanks for any help you might have polarisman

You need the OEM code, look for it inside of the jack compartment. Open that panel, and look forward into the driver's side wheelwell. There is an electrical box there with a sticker on the side, white with black lettering. That is the one OEM five digit code. The ford dealership will charge around $30, saying they need to hook into the computer to get the OEM code. That's bull****. The OEM code is where I said it is above.

This is where the keyless entry code is located.

These pictures are of the jack compartment in the drivers side wheel well.

Picture 2

In picture 2, you can't miss the large, bold, 5 digit code on the sticker that the arrow is pointing at. However, there is only a small space between the sticker and the plastic interior as you can see, so you might need a flashlight.

This is from my 2001 explorer sport. I'm not sure what other years these pictures apply to.
