Guage/Gear HELP!

Guage/Gear HELP!
So i started to notice my P R N D 3 2 1 was lookin a bit weird.
...A few days down the road - - - now when im in R it looks like im almost in N and when im in D it looks like im almost is 3.
***I work nxt door to a mechanic, he told me nothing wrong wit the car FORDS just have a bad habit of doing that CRAP and that the cars fine it just looks ANNOYING! [lol].
///HE mentioned a "little thing" underneath the dash that will help me eqaulize that lil orange stick (lmao) back to normal.
!!!The problem: i looked under the dash and have NO CLUE what he was talkin about...
--> So i was wondering if some one can point me in the right direction so i can correct this problem.

Hmmmm.......good question! I thought there were screws on the bottom, but I just checked and didn't see any. It LOOKS like they just snap on - hopefully someone who's had them off will chime in here.
