tach sensor housing

i have a a 6.9 in my 87 f250 a couple months ago i swapped a motor from an 84 f250 into my 87 and the 84 didnt have a factory tach im tired of not having a tach and want to swap the ip gear housings so mine has a tach how do change them and keep it in timed and stuff like that?

If you remove the IP..... then undo and remove the old timing gear housing... install the new (TGH).. then reinstall the IP. As long as you do not remove the gear it should be still in the timed position........

Isn't there a 1" nut to the right of the the filler neck? There was on my '85. Remove the plug and install the sender in that spot.

the plug was used when they had to install a tach capable engine into a non tach vehicle at the assembly plant the non tach engines did not have the cover machined for the sensor follow the post on removing the injectorpump then the cover and do not remove the gear youll be fine
