Hi i live in hawaii and its freakin hot...a/c doesnt work in my 1997 explorer 5.0. I tried to recharge the system to make it a bit colder for my pregnant wife and now its blowing nothing but hot air. any help would be greatly appreciated.
As said, check the compressor on it... when you turn on the A/C do you see it engage and stay on in the engine compartment?
Also, it might be the blend door that is at fault. Does it still blow hot when you put it on MAX A/C (as that bypasses the heater core so it does not matter if the blend door is in the wrong position)?
If the compressor is running ok, then it's not low on freon. Sounds like the blend door problem. Look in the Helpful Links sticky at the top of this forum for more info on the blend door.
should not be the blend door if still hot on A/C max. Unless it is the door and the bypass valve (vacuum controlled) that shuts of the coolant to the heater core in that mode (they are also known to have issues).
