Today I was turning left as sharp as I could and hit a small bump. When I hit the bump the left front tire blew out. When I got under it to look, I discovered that the tire hit the drag link. The sheet metal cover that holds the grease seal around the ball cut the tire.
Now I am wondering, does the Toyota box turn farther than the stock box so that it hits. Or are the wheels I have too wide or is the offset on the wheels wrong. The wheels are 15" x 8" wide. Tires are 255\70 I don't know what the offset is. Will have to measure it.
Has anyone else run into this problem? Does anyone know what the correct offset is?

The steering box has nothing to do with the wheels turning too far...do you have your limit stops adjusted correctly? The steering arms should contact the stops before your tires contact the suspension.

Where are the adjustable limit stops located on a '49? I didn't know there were any.
