Coolant Color
I have 00 EX w/ 7.3 engine. I drained the green coolant completely. I even removed the two drain plugs on the side of the engine. I mixed 50/50 solution of green prestone coolant and water with two 16 oz bottles of VC8. Each time I checked it with the test strip the test strip color is dark brown instead of pink. What did I do wrong? Did I use the wrong coolant? Is this harmful to my engine cooling system? Response is appreciated.

Was it the correct additive? Do you have any coolant left over? If so I'd test the coolant out of the bottle and try to get a couple of drops out of the empty additive bottle to drop onto the strip to see the results. I'm not aware of any reason the prestone green shouldn't work. Maybe you got a bad batch of strips?
